I am Chanel not channel.

Chanel Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Black and white stole the show. These colours are lively and does not necessarily spell d-u-l-l. Time to embrace black and white again.

CLAD is now Happyesque!

Hello there!

We are really pleased to announce today that CLAD magazine will be merged with another magazine, Happyesque!

As some of you would know, CLAD magazine has been helmed by myself, with help from a group of talented and committed people such as Hailey, Indah, Matthew, Nana, Hira and Nadiah. We’ve been bootstrapping our way through in attempting to create a truly original magazine and at times we have been pushed to the edge as we juggle our commitments and also use our very limited resources in making CLAD.

Other than the core CLAD team, there is Adib (or misterdibster) whom have since the beginning, worked very closely with the team, contributing his experience, energy and resources as an advisor and designer for CLAD. Prior to being involved with CLAD, Adib was the founder of FIVEFOOTWAY and has been working on a new magazine project called Happyesque. As we were working with the magazines, we realized how the 2 magazines, CLAD and Happyesque, shared common values such as the desire to create a new kind of magazine heavily focused on being original, stylish, intelligent and covering a wide breadth of ideas and things. And in the end, it just seemed like the perfect fit for the two magazines to merge!

Now we have the opportunity to bring many of the ideas that we’ve developed at CLAD to Happyesque and together create a magazine packed with more content in depth and breadth. By combining our resources, we think that we can bring our style and cool fashion sense to Happyesque:)

What this means for CLAD
The CLAD team will now become part of the Happyesque editorial team, continuing their roles as stylists, writers and photographers. I will serve as the Fashion & Music Editor for Happyesque so in a way, CLAD lives on!

To those who have already placed your pre-orders for CLAD issue 1, we will transfer your order to Happyesque Issue 01. Specially for you, the price of the magazine will remain at $7.90 no matter what the eventual price of Happyesque is. (We heard it will be more expensive than $7.90).  If you wish to cancel your order, please drop us an email at cladmagazine[at]gmail.com

Thank You
Thank you to all of our early supporters who have shown us support since we started as a simple blog in February 2009.  There will be more good times than down time from here on in! Thank you to all of the support we received from OhSoFickle, Tracyeinny, The Marilyns and Taken By Cars for being involved in our inaugural issue (that will become Happyesque #01).

Meanwhile, let us introduce you to Happyesque and its editor, Adib.

About Happyesque
Happyesque is a journal of ideas and things. It offers a delightful smorgasboard of reports, commentary and discussions on topics including affairs, culture, design, fashion, technology and anything in between. Presented in a poetic, profound, absurd, joyful and sometimes disturbing manner,  it is an essential conversation piece for the modern, intelligent & stylish people of the world.

Happyesque appears 4 times a year in print and also exists as a regularly updated website at www.happyesque.com. It’s presence on Twitter (@happyesque) and Facebook are avenues where everyone is invited to meet like-minded individuals and engage in both meaningful and meaningless conversation.

Happyesque is founded and edited by Adib Jalal (or misterdibster) with a network of contributors that is connected by the power of the internet and modern transportation.

About Adib
Adib is a self-professed lover of all things aesthetically pleasing.  Formally trained in architecture, he strayed into other parts of the creative world, dabbling in web design, graphics and film. He is constantly trying to make things and hopes to touch someone’s heart with design.  Prior to founding Happyesque, Adib co-founded and directed the online architectural publication, FIVEFOOTWAY from 2007 to 2009, guiding it to be one of the emerging influence in Singapore’s architecture industry. He currently remains as an advisor and contributor to the website. He is also a Senior Designer at FARM while spending whatever free time he has operating as a freelancer. In 2008, Adib was selected to represent Singapore in Cityscapers, an international design workshop by the British Council. He was also the youngest designer selected to present at the Singapore pavilion, Venice Architecture Biennale 2008. Adib lives and works in Singapore.

If you have any questions about this news, please contact me directly at cladmagazine [at] gmail.com and I’ll be happy to help. Meanwhile, hop on over to Happyesque.com!

Regards,
N and the rest of CLAD team.

Since I don’t have an excellent camera and am courageous enough to go up to people on the streets and shoot street style photos, I’ve decided to re-blog some street style photos from various places.
Thankyou tumblr.
